Agenda Item: VII.

Consider/Approve Amendment to Board Policy #2.403 – Personal Property Sales

Background Information:

With the technological changes that are taking place almost daily, the school system finds many technology items out-of-date that can no longer be used in the classrooms or elsewhere. Our technology coordinator, Mr. Jason Kendall, spends hours storing these items until he can get on the Board agenda to get these items declared surplus and then must take more time to re-load these items into vehicles to take the items to the recycling center.

To help alleviate this burden and to make better use of time, the following amendment to Board Policy #2.403 – Personal Property Sales, is presented for the Board’s consideration:

Technology Equipment

The Board declares technology personal property that has been determined by the technology coordinator, in consultation with the director of schools, to no longer have an intended use by the system and/or is no longer capable of being used because of condition, as being surplus and such personal property may be disposed without further Board approval. When such property is considered surplus, a report of items disposed shall be included on the next Board agenda under the consent agenda.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the above-noted amendment to Board Policy #2.403 on second and final reading.
